New Year, New Things

Perhaps like me, 2016 held within it many good things within your life, some sad and troubling aspects, or perhaps just a plain rough year you muddled through.  I heard more than not, "Thank God this year is ending, I can't wait until 2017 arrives!" Sad times--in February alone, I learned of the passing of 6 people I have known, with more losses later in the year, among them my aunt at the age of 98.  But also many good things occurred in 2016--a trip to Hawaii with a dear family friend, the graduation ceremonies of both my granddaughters, and the graduation of my daughter from college with her BS in December.  Finding close friendships in San Felipe that I treasure, staying in touch with older friendships, learning more about my new adopted home town--enjoying the many and varied sunrises and sunsets the desert plus Sea and mountains provide here--all have brought great joy and harmony into my life in many ways, making 2016 one of my better years I think! Everything is a balance--that being said, in looking back on 2016, I do find a balance within my life--the good things coupled with the not so good.  I will look back on 2016 with good feelings overall..

Also things unintentionally neglected!  Busy keeping up with the events, restaurants and band schedules within this website, my dance classes, various trips north of the border, and becoming more involved in the community of San Felipe, I found that this column has been neglected. I never did get my annual Christmas letter written, a first in many years for me. The boxes and miscellaneous things in my garage that I was going to sort through and reorganize never was even attempted--the garden I had intended to plant went unplanted.  All things that never got attended to in 2016--now begin my Goals list for 2017!  I was excited to learn San Felipe has a Plumeria Society group, and will be attending their meetings now.  I look forward to being directly involved with the Baja Good Life Club, hosting their monthly luncheons--the next will be February 2..  And I am excited to begin again my social dance lessons beginning January 30. With the New Year, 2017 brings great optimism for new things, new pathways to follow, a new outlook ahead--and a second chance to attend to the things left undone!

Baja Belle (aka) Carolyn Richardson followed much the same path that most have in coming to San Felipe--first as a casual visitor, then several times a year, and is now a permanent full time resident.   Baja Belle has been a contributing writer to the Kat's Korner column..
